One Day Textile Art Workshop Monday Dye and hand stitch make a framed artwork
30th October @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm£100
Join Sue for a one day textile art workshop from scratch.
Taking inspiration from in and around our beautiful studio, we start in the morning discussing design ideas and putting them down on paper. Sue will guide you through your choice of inspirational; object, photograph or view, before demonstrating simple techniques to translate their inspiration into textile design. No drawing skills or previous art experience are required.
We will then dye background fabrics, threads, and yarn in your chosen colour palette using quick microwave techniques. This is where everyone’s pieces begin to take on a truly unique character.
A pause for a lunch of home-made soup and fresh baked bread, included in the price, gives time to take in the view.
The afternoon is spent converting your designs into a finished piece using simple hand stitching and needle felting, Sue provides gentle encouragement and you will learn new techniques and stitches appropriate for your experience and your individual piece.
All materials are provided and you will leave with a finished piece of textile art framed and ready to hang in pride of place. (Some participants choose to bring a scrap of fabric with them that has a special meaning – a babygro, wedding dress swatch, vintage ribbon or similar to incorporate into their design)
This one day course costs £100 per person and includes all your materials, lunch and refreshments. The course runs from 10am until 3pm each day.
If your preferred dates are not available and you can gather two friends we can put up a bespoke course for three or more, to arrange a bespoke session please send us an email with some potential dates and we will do our best to accommodate you.
