Three Things; Spotlight – Creative Laser Cutting October

Creative laser cutting course October 2014

This week we had a trio of ladies in for a one day laser cutting course with Kris. They were sisters Julie and Sandra and their Mum Emily, it was Sandra’s birthday and a fun time was had by all.

Julie, Sandra and Emily all arrived with hand drawn images they wanted to laser etch and set about digitising them with Kris’ help and guidance. They were soon being etched into test wood before beginning on their finished pieces.

Birthday girl Sandra took home a set of coasters etched with lovely woodland scenes and a sketch of her little doggie. She also etched a decorative letter S into chunky blocks of driftwood – one large and one small.

Julie etched two sets of bamboo coasters with a street scene she had designed with an ice cream van in the foreground as a nod to the family business. Julie and Sandra decided on a whim to make some very sweet (pun intended) little ice cream brooches which were laser cut out of acrylic and glued together like a jigsaw.

Emily had a wonderfully laid back relaxing day and made herself a trivet / chopping board laser etched with a vase of mixed flowers.

What did the ladies think of their day at Shore Cottage Studio?

“Thank you for a fabulous day – for your hard work, patience and fantastic food! You made it a very special day for us all” Julie, Emily and Sandra.
