Three Things; Spotlight – Explore Design Stitch May

Explore Design Stitch May 2014

This May Bank Holiday weekend Sue hosted an Explore Design Stitch course for Mum and Daughter; Pauline and Jane. The weekend began with a walk on Thurstaston beach to collect sources of inspiration.

The pair certainly seemed to be having a great time in the studio hunting through Sue’s expansive collection of yarns.

Textile design using mark making

Jane was inspired by the linear patterns on a piece of charred wood and set about mark making the wood grain pattern in sea and sky colours.

Needle felted dyed stitched final piece

Here is one of Jane’s finished pieces inspired by a walk on the beach, developed through mark making and realised in needle felting, stitch and beading. Lovely.

Jane said of her time in the studio: “Wonderful two days learning lots of new techniques…I definitely feel inspired to be more creative.”

Pauline said “Lovely two days. Very relaxing and interesting. Very good company and lovely cake.”
