Three Things; Spotlight – Explore, Design, Stitch ‘Roots’
Our Spotlight today is on Sue Barnes’ ‘Explore, Design, Stitch’ course which runs here at Shore Cottage Studio. The two day course begins with a walk along the tide line, a few paces from our stunning coastal studio, to gather inspiration. Day one continues with mark making and perhaps dyeing fabrics and yarns if desired. Day two focusses on hand embroidery making beautiful stitched textiles and samples.
Here is a section of our studio where mark making is currently in action. Today the inspiration is some tangled foxglove roots unearthed from our garden at Shore Cottage. We run a very relaxed and welcoming studio which we hope nurtures creativity in our visitors.
Experimenting with cut and torn paper shapes washed with inks and dyes to inspire textile design, no drawing skills or previous experience required!
