Three Things; Spotlight – fused glass July 2015

Fused Glass Seascapes 20072015

Over the weekend Laura was joined by Sally for a Miniature Fused Glass Seascape course. Sally is a surfer in her spare time and wanted to create some unique fused glass pieces that captured the turquoise colours of waves she encountered in Sri Lanka. She began by experimenting with wave shapes on smaller pieces some of which were turned into pendants. She then moved on to making bright vibrant pieces using different types of glass exploring shapes and contrasts.

Day two and Sally arrived back at the studio with an idea to create a larger piece with turquoise seas and sky with silhouetted palm trees, inspired by a painting done by a friend. The final palm tree piece once fused was framed in a box frame with driftwood and sea glass, and doesn’t it look great!

So what did Sally think of the course?

Thank you so much for a great weekend. The glass fusion course was truly amazing. Brilliant teaching and advice, fabulous company and lets not to forget the delicious food! I’m chuffed to pieces with the work I created and brought home. My Mum and cousin love their pendants. You have such a special and inspiring place. I wish that I was coming back again tomorrow! x (Sally, Hoylake)
