Three Things; Spotlight – Fused Glass October 2014
Last week Laura welcomed Chris to Shore Cottage Studio to participate in a Fused Glass workshop. Chris spent two days with Laura experimenting with our microwave glass kilns.
More at home with softer textures Chris, an experienced felter who runs popular classes in Hoylake, quickly adjusted to working with glass. We mused that fused glass making and felting have a lot in common in that even though you have a design in mind you can never be quite sure how the final piece will turn out. She made some beautiful pieces, which you can see in the gallery below, and decided that the best way to view them was against the light so the last portion of the course was spent constructing mobiles. One with thin wire hung glass drops and the other with glass drops hung from free moving fishing wire.
In her own words… “Delightful company, great food and wonderful creative vibes. Two really relaxing enjoyable days and lots of ideas for my own work. Leaving fired up to get working again. Thank you.”
