Three Things; Spotlight – Laser and Photography Courses
Today our course spotlight is focussed on two half courses. Last week saw Laura running day one of a two day Photographing Natural Texture and Detail course, with day two to follow at the end of the month. This week sees Kris starting a Creative Laser Cutting course which will be completed tomorrow. We are flexible in our course delivery meaning that if customers wish to undertake our two-day courses on non-consecutive days this can be easily accommodated.
Despite a thoroughly grey day, Laura’s course participant was able to take some wonderful images in the Shore Cottage Studio garden as well as out on the beach and tideline. As the whether was cold and quite windy we made frequent sojourns onto the beach and equally frequent retreats to the warmth of the studio to view progress and to warm up with tea and cake. You will be able to see more work and a full spotlight on this workshop when day two is completed at the end of the month.
Kris has begun a course today with Jo from Seagrass Studio and Gallery in Hoylake. Jo, who is used to painting and jewellery making has never tried laser cutting or etching before. Jo spent some time sketching out potential designs to etch. It is easier to digitise and then etch an image that has a clear outline or shape so these black and white line drawings are an ideal starting point for her designs.
This is a stone brought back from a holiday to Spain which was etched with Jo’s Seagrass logo. The etched surface is both chalky and crisp, it just cries out to be traced by the fingers. We can’t wait to see what is produced tomorrow. A full spotlight will follow next week.
