Three Things; Spotlight – Photographing Natural Texture and Detail

Photographing Natural Texture and Detail

This week the Spotlight falls on the Photographing Natural Texture and Detail course run by Laura Heath here at Shore Cottage Studio. The course is aimed at beginners or those looking to move away from auto mode as well as those looking to improve their photographic composition.

Exploring depth of field

The two day course begins with gentle theory over tea and cake explaining how to control camera functions. We will explore using different settings in the nurturing atmosphere of the studio through several still life set ups. Later we will move outside to explore the stunning coastal environment, it is amazing what natural treasures we will find. By the end of the day you will be taking photographs with confidence and increased technical skill.

The second day will begin with considering what makes a good photograph and what makes a great one. We will review the previous day’s images before heading out to break the rules we have learnt to get more creative shots.

Reviewing A mini portfolio

At the end of the course you will choose your favourite images to print into your mini portfolio and have one image blown up and framed.
