Three Things: Spotlight – Photography teenager’s course

Photography course

Our course spotlight today is on our teenage course participant Indi on Photographing Natural Texture and Detail. Indi borrowed her Dad’s camera and was starting from scratch theory wise.

Spraying teasels with water to photograph

We had such fun on this photography course, day one was brilliant sunshine and we spent time spraying the teasels with a water mist to add interest to our shots, day two we were sloshing about in wellies avoiding downpours!

Photographing natural texture and detail

Indi using manual focus like a pro, she chased bees around the foliage in the garden and came up with some brilliant images.

Bee on sea holly photograph

Indi enjoyed experimenting with depth of field to highlight her subject matter this bee on sea holly is totally lovely. As we were in an experimental mood I decided to show Indi how to emphasise bokeh in her images and to shape the bokeh using a piece of black card. Check out the starry results in the leaf pictures below.

What did Indi think? In her own words “I really enjoyed the photography course and had a blast. Laura, you were a fabulous teacher thank you so much for everything.”
