Three Things; Spotted – Take Tea on Hilbre with the RSPB
Today we have spotted an event that is right up our street as a family.
This is Hilbre Island, about three miles along the coast from Shore Cottage Studio just off West Kirby. It can be reached at low tide by walking across the mudflats. You need to consult tide tables as to when to visit see here for tips.
The RSPB are hosting a Take Tea on Hilbre with the RSPB this Saturday. The event is open to anyone and you don’t need tickets to attend, just turn up at noon. For a one pound donation you can enjoy tea and cake – sounds good to us.
There will be experts from the RSPB and Wirral Country Park Rangers on hand to identify and explain the wildlife of Hilbre including wading birds, birds of prey and if you are lucky grey seals. This picture of a moorhen was drawn by our seven year old who is the keenest bird watcher in the Shore Cottage Studio team. (He will be very pleased to see his illustration on the web so please exclude the indulgence)
