Three Things; Treasury – John Moores Painting Prize 2014

Visiting the John Moores Painting Prize 2014

Laura visited the John Moores Painting Prize 2014, where one is not allowed to take photographs, so please do not judge too harshly the quick sketches from her sketchbook! The exhibition is on until the 30th of November but you must visit this weekend if you want to add your vote to the Visitors’ Choice Award which closes on the 2nd November.

Please do seek out the original images either here in the online gallery, or in person at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

If you do get along to see the exhibition please do send us your sketches, we’ll add them to the blog.

Sketchbook notes on Hynek Martinec

This huge wall sized painting by Hynek Martinek is stunning. Entitled “Every minute you are closer to death’ you can see a photograph of the original here.

Laura Heath sketchbook page on Tim Renshaw

A very shoddy rendition of the brilliant Tim Renshaw’s “Nowhere” here. Please do click here and see a photograph of the original.

Laura Heath's sketchbook notes on Rachel Levitas 'Fox with Dahlias IV'

The beautifully autumnal “Fox with Dahlias” by Rachel Levitas maintains bright eye contact with the viewer. Click here to see a photograph of the original.
