Three Things; Treasury – Searching: Unexpected Treasure

Searching unexpected treasures

We travelled to Liverpool for the Bridewell Studios and Gallery – Searching: Unexpected Treasure on Friday night. Kris and Laura were invited to the private view as participating artists. They took their five year old along for a treat as she was the muse and subject for Laura’s A Gift from them Sea caffenol combination print. She was delighted to see herself and declared it her favourite piece in the exhibition!

The gallery was bustling with visitors and all the artists were more than happy to chat about their work. We spoke at length to Debrea Lewis who explained her Magpie Project: all about finding her Mother’s jewellery hidden as gifts tucked away inside socks in drawers and other hidey holes. She has encapsulated it in resin with keys nd other partly trinkets as well as weaving wire nests to display pieces.

There were so many people in the gallery space it wasn’t possible to capture it all. What we have done instead is chosen a few of our favourite pieces and attempted to give you a small glimpse of them to tempt you into visiting yourself to see the whole picture.

Searching:Unexpected Treasure is open daily until 21st from 11am-4pm (closed Mondays)
