Three Things; Treasury – Williamson & Wirral Met Show
Last week Kris and Laura attended the Wirral Met College ‘Fine Art’ and ‘Illustration and Animation’ Degree Show at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead. Which, for this year only, also includes work from the HND and HNC Photography Students.
It was jam packed on the private view but we managed to take some pics on a compact camera of some of our favourites.
We loved the work of Bill Fletcher, the largest of which nine oaks, were unfortunately not for sale. The textural qualities of the natural wood used and the minimalist arrangements were bold and pleasing.
Jennifer Dewhirst’s machine embroidered bird pieces with their hanging threads made for an eye catching group
Julie Campbell’s paintings were much admired on the night and formed the backdrop to the formal opening and speeches of the night and are well worth a look in person.
The exhibition is open to the public for another week, closed on Monday, finishing Sunday the 7th June. You can visit between 10am and 5pm and much of the work is for sale if you wanted to invest in a star of the future at an affordable price now.
