Three Things; Works in Progress – Cushion Commission
Sue has recently been commissioned to turn some of her work in to custom cushions. A couple visiting the area were walking past the studio, called in and were drawn to Sue’s rust dyed, hand stitched works with images of fishermen. After a short discussion about the best form of commission piece the couple settled on cushions.
Here Sue adds appliqué images of boats to rust dyed fabric. The images are of the Dee estuary here at Thurstaston taken by Sue at low tide and transferred onto fabric.
This second cushion features a fisherman- Thomas Langlands, from Whitby. Sue is laying out fabric elements before settling on a final design.
This was the piece that sparked the cushion concept, originally conceived as a wall piece. By draping it over a cushion pad you can get an idea of how the finished cushions will look. Sue is continuing to work on the cushions and we will keep you posted on progress.
You can commission Sue for a piece of your own by sending her an email firstname.lastname@example.org Sue also runs the Explore Design Stitch courses here at Shore Cottage Studio.
