Three Things; Works in Progress – Knox:Sue Collaboration

Collaboration between Sue Barnes and Knox Heath

Today we bring you collaborative works in progress from Sue Barnes, our resident textile artist, and Knox Heath, our resident eight year old illustrator. Knox has produced (and continues to produce on a daily basis) a massive body of illustrative work of the animal kingdom. Past blogs have seen Knox painting bird illustrations with his illustrative hero Matt Sewell and even turning his hand to interior design by painting garden birds on the staircase at Shore Cottage.

Sue managed to squirrel away some of Knox’s work and has begun to produce a series of stitched sketches in collaboration with Knox based on his original illustrations. Sue uses her signature dyeing techniques to create subtle backgrounds for the creatures. She then uses fabric paint to render the animals and birds before embellishing them with hand stitching.
