Three Things; Works in Progress – Kris’ Laser Cut Feathers
Today we are featuring some of Kris’ latest works which proved very popular at the Wirral Open Studio Tour. So popular in fact that these two have now been sold into private collections!
Tenkuu was featured in a previous blog and has been bought in secret as a surprise gift for someone, our lips are sealed!
This feather went in the first hours of the first day, so later visitors could only buy a gift card with its image on.
So today we bring you this piece with a lovely dark feather, laser cut with birds that seem to fly out of the feather itself. The laser cut birds are mounted on pin heads on driftwood collected on Thurstaton beach on the Wirral.
This perfect circle has been precisely laser cut from several feathers and has a visual balance between strength and fragility.
A long piece of red driftwood is the perfect foil for this larger white feather with its laser cut squares. The squares are matched by dark feather laser cut squares which are mounted at varying heights on pin heads.
Each of the three remaining pieces are available to buy, priced at £50 each plus posting. They will shortly be available for open sale in our shop, but if you want to be sure of nabbing one for yourself we are happy to reserve for you if you email firstname.lastname@example.org
