Three Things; Works in Progress – Looking forward to Heswall Festival
This week we have been thinking ahead to the 2015 Heswall Arts Festival. We are part of the art trail this year and have secured an exciting position in Nick Bailey’s Hairdressers. Here’s the blurb for the brochure…
A collaboration between Shore Cottage Studio visual artists Sue Barnes, Kris Heath, and Laura Heath and Nick Bailey Hairdressing to produce salon portraits to make you look twice. Kris showcases graphic statement laser cut and etched necklaces. Sue’s textile neckpieces incorporate both traditional and unexpected materials. Laura’s mixed media adornments are sculptural and sure to spark comment. Nick Bailey provides the dynamic hair and styling for the models (photography by Laura Heath).
So we have been busy playing around with concepts for new works.
Kris has been mocking up animal themed necklaces, his first concept pieces are always made in cardboard this fox will be trying several different tails before it is finalised.
Sue has been wrapping and dyeing various fabrics and combining them with rusted objects, stones and found materials.
Laura has been experimenting with colours and themes far away from her usual seascape blues and neutrals.
We are very excited to be taking part this year and can’t wait to see how our initial ideas develop.
