Three Things: Works in Progress – Sue’s Couture Christmas Fairies
Sue is currently busy hand making these Couture Christmas Fairies. She has been collecting vintage dolls, often sold as souvenirs in national costume, freeing them from their often dangerously pinned on clothes and up cycling them into Couture Christmas Fairies.
This vintage beauty is 11cm tall and is almost finished with a pale aqua hand knitted dress with hand knitted lace edging. A tiny button finishes her bodice and Sue has made knitted lace wings with a subtle metallic thread. All she needs to be complete is a wand!
This tiny vintage doll is only 8cm tall and has working ‘sleep eyes’. Sue has made her dress from hand dyed fabric and vintage lace which Sue has then hand beaded with seed beads. A hand knitted bodice made from both fine yarn and chunky wool give a stole-like finish. This little one is waiting for her wings and wand before fluttering off to grace someone’s petite tree or mantle piece.
This supremely elegant vintage doll is 16cm tall and has a tiny hand knitted cloche hat! Her dress is made from Sue’s signature rust dyed fabric hand embellished with stitching and beads with a hand knitted bodice. She too needs her wings and a wand for her elegant hand.
Sue is making a whole collection of Couture Fairies which will feature in our brand new shop when our new look website launches in the coming weeks.
