Three Things; Works in Progress – Wirral Open Studio

Shore Cottage Studio Open Studio 2014

It’s finally here! This weekend is the Wirral Open Studio 2014, with a record 44 artists taking part across Wirral in 33 venues. It’s an excellent opportunity for the public to meet the artists and visit their working spaces, as well as buy some original art and gifts!

If you haven’t been able to pick up a brochure yet, you can find them in shops and boutiques across Wirral, or alternatively, the download link for the full brochure is available here, which has descriptions and locations for all the artists.

All studios will be open on Saturday 10am-5pm and on Sunday 11am-5pm so there is plenty of time to do the full tour or just dip in and out as you fancy.

Sue Barnes' Fisherman's Gansey with mounted textile and stitch work

Sue Barnes has been preparing her Fisherman’s Gansey inspired coat, featuring rust dyed fabric, hand stitching and mono print elements. She also has her stitched vessels and stitched driftwood, as well as stitched and dyed framed fabric panels for sale.

Work in Progress - Kris Heath's pinned oyster catchers

Kris Heath is busy mounting laser cut oyster catcher silhouettes onto panel pins, using beach-found marine plywood as a base. He is also displaying a variety of laser cut feathers like his Tenkuu piece – all very tricky and delicate!

Laura Heath's mounted frames, mermaid portrait and West Kirby at night

Laura Heath is displaying her professionally printed photographs in mounts, available to buy as mounted images in plastic sleeves, or as complete framed pieces. Laura’s works include her ‘A cage of her own making’ photo series, ‘Tidemark‘ mixed media with fused glass elements.

Laura will also be showcasing some of her recent portrait commissions including the ‘Little Mermaid’ image seen above and will be available to discuss bespoke portrait photography either classic or with a fine art edge.

We will also be taking bookings for our creative courses and selling gift vouchers which make great special occasion presents. Come and chat about which course would be best for you or your lucky recipient.

So please do pop by if you are free at all, we’d love to see you. If you can’t make it but still want to have a nosy around don’t forget you can click on our virtual studio tour on our website.
