One week to go until we run our free flotsam weaving drop in workshop for the Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s Discover Living Seas Event. Our workshop is part of a much wider event organised by the Trust with activities taking place all day both on the cliff top by the visitor centre and down on the sand. Why not pop by or spend the whole day at Thurstaston?
We blogged about getting blue fingers dyeing our recycled T-shirt yarn last time, this time our fingers are decidedly yellow!
Laura has been busy creating lovely cooking smells in the studio dyeing with onion skins, turmeric and tea. These vibrant shades could be woven by you into golden sands or shimmering sunsets as part of our free even next weekend. There is no need to book just turn up any time between 11am and 4pm to join in.
As well as the dip dye and vat dye techniques Laura has been taking a leaf out of Sue’s rust dye recipe book and is hoping to get a mottled stained effect on this batch.
We have also made almost 100 card looms for you to come and weave our dyed recycled cloth yarn, beach recovered plastics and other flotsam into a work of art. We plan to give everyone brief instructions and then leave you to get stuck in and create your masterpiece. We will collect up all the woven card looms and make them into an installation, a beautiful blanket of recycled rubbish!
