Throughout November you may have seen our studio with totally blacked out windows and a closed sign on the gate and wondered what was going on. We can now reveal Laura has been shooting a fund raising calendar for Lucy’s Pineapple fund. The calendar features black and white images of naked volunteers with artfully placed pineapples!
Lucy’s Pineapple Fund has been set up by the family and friends of Lucy Moroney. In their words…
“Lucy was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) in the Summer of 2017 when she was just nine years old, just five years after she lost her mum, Nicola, and Baby sister, Ruby. Following her diagnosis doctors told Lucy’s father, Joe, that DIPG had a 0% survival rate and that she would receive only palliative care.
Children with DIPG rarely survive longer than 9 months after diagnosis and there is no treatment in the UK offering hope. Following extensive research, Joe cam e across an Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy treatment for DIPG, only available in Monterrey, Mexico. Doctors in Monterrey specialise in treating DIPG and the family decided to get Lucy out there as soon as possible for treatment however costly.
That’s when #TeamPineapple was born! A fantastic community of people on Facebook doing what they could to help fundraise for Lucy’s treatment. A group of #TeamPineapple volunteers got together to take part in the ultimate fundraising challenge – strip off naked (complete with pineapple props) for a 2018 calendar.
All proceeds from this calendar will go directly to Lucy’s Pineapple Fund.”
You can buy the calendar through the Facebook link above, or it will also be in Calendar Club shops in Birkenhead and Liverpool from this weekend.
We can’t show you any of the final images here (you’ll have to buy the calendar) but the cover image is at the top of this page, and we can show you some behind the scenes shots, click each thumbnail below to see a larger shot.
Laura is no stranger to portrait photography but had not shot anything quite like this before! She is available for custom portrait commissions, clothed or unclothed (her not you, she will always be clothed) by emailing email@example.com
Laura dedicated weeks to photographing and editing, and totally took over the studio for this wonderful cause without charging a penny for her time, so all the money raised can go direct to the fund. Please do consider buying one for yourself or as a gift – at £12 each they’ll not break the bank.
