If you would like to design and make your own hand stitched textiles, this is the course for you. I can show you how to find inspiration in your surroundings, explore ideas through mark making on paper, dye your own colour palette of fabric and threads, and translate your designs using simple hand stitch

On day one we use the fruits and colours of Autumn as a starting point  to explore  shapes, colours, and textures using; rubbings, printing, painting, and resist techniques to inspire your own unique designs.

Day two is all about colour  We will dye an autumn colour palettes using a variety of fabrics and thread and use print techniques to colour backgrounds to stitch into.

Day three is all about stitching – whatever your ability I will be there to gently guide and encourage, and help you to choose, and learn, the right stitches to enhance your unique design. Our relaxed and supportive environment means that complete beginners and experienced stitchers can work side by side.

You will take home a framed finished piece as well as a sketchbook bursting with ideas and a wide range of dyed samples to fill up your creative store cupboard and see you through the coming winter.

I had done some work with dyeing fabrics on the two day course and looked forward to learning more. Sue gave us many more ideas to work with and I can't wait to use plants from my garden in future projects. Amazing hospitality as always in a setting that is perfect for creativity.
