This week’s treasury post is based on wonderful new friends we met this week, the Heswall and District Soroptimists International group. The group do a regular beach clean and litter survey on Thurstaston beach and this wet and windy week we thought they could do with tea and cakes for all their hard work and so invited them in.
The litter survey carried out by the Soroptimists is part of the Beachwatch project by the Marine Conservation Society. This has two benefits, cleaning the beach and adding to the litter survey to provide data about the quantity and type of litter around Britain’s coast.
Laura made lemon slices and ganache-topped chocolate sponge cakes for the team which seemed to both go down a treat with their tea and coffee. The studio was buzzing with 21 visitors and it was a privilege to meet a group so passionate about giving their time for the good of the community.
The beach is much cleaner since their visit and we look forward to seeing them again.
