We had such fun taking part in The Big Dee Day 2014. We hosted teams from the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales who spent the morning beach cleaning. After a break for lunch the teams separated out the more beautiful rubbish, including nets, ropes and coloured plastic ready for weaving.
The day began bright and early at Chester Football Club. A breakfast was laid on to boost volunteers energy for the day ahead and awards were given out to deserving winners.
We had a small display table and showed off our brand new banner.
Bags of beach cleaned art materials or rubbish depending on your view!
Let the weaving commence!
Concentrating on the task in hand, not even distracted by the beautiful view. The volunteers began by honing their technique on smaller individual looms, they then each had a souvenir of the day.
Impromptu team building exercise. Creating two larger weavings with driftwood frames, designed and made with teamwork and a clear vision. One will be kept on the Welsh bank of the Dee and the other on the English bank of the Dee.
The finished articles and very smiley faces.
